When Rape goes Viral

I believe that sexual assault is a very serious matter, as it should be. Social media in certain cases seems to make it look okay. At least with certain crowds which find the videos amusing. I believe that social media has made sexual assault seem like part of the "college life" while it certainly should not be. It also has stripped any privacy from the victims. Considering they have just gone through, what is arguably, one of most traumatizing events of their life, they should not have to deal with the drama of it on facebook after. Sexual assualt seems to have a strange relationship with social media. After all, it does bring more attention to it and makes it a more pressing matter. On the other hand, it destroys the lives of it's victims.

  1. You make a good point about how social media almost makes it seem like a "college thing" which is a terrible stereotype to have. I didn't think about that while posting mine, but you make a very good point in those regards.

  3. I dont agree with what you are saying about it becoming a stereotype, and that it is a part of "college life". I don't believe that social media has ever made rape or sexual assault out to be a 'good' part of college. I think that maybe because of the college scene it may happen more, but I find it very hard to believe that their are advocates of sexual assault on a college campus on social media.
